Fun Friday
We started our day working hard on school so that we could play this afternoon. Caleb had to copy his Bible verse for handwriting today.
Of course, Alexa wanted to do the same thing as Caleb was doing. So I wrote the verse out for her and gave her a highlighter to trace it with.
After we finished school, the kids went out to play for awhile. Then we picked up Chickfila and took it to Dave for lunch. We all enjoyed our Chickfila for lunch except for Caleb who packed a peanut butter and honey sandwich, blueberries, and Cheetos in his lunch box. I think he's going to love getting to take a lunch to school one day a week next year.
After we ate lunch, I told the kids that I had a surprise for them. I took them to an indoor pirate themed playground. It had sand to play in, guns that shot soft balls, and bouncy things. These are the only pictures I got because the kids were too busy to stand still for pictures.
When we got home, both girls took naps. Alexa only naps about once every 2 weeks these days, so I enjoyed the peace and quiet. Caleb played in his room for awhile and then played some Wii.
We read this book, On Top of Spaghetti, this week, and I promised the kids that we would make spaghetti and meatballs tonight for dinner. I actually used the meatball recipe on the back of the book since I had never made meatballs before.
It was very yummy!
Jordanna thought so, too (although I cooked some short pasta for her instead of spaghetti).
After dinner, I bathed Jordanna while the kids watched a movie and then we all had some popcorn.
All in all, it was a fun Friday.

New
My mom ordered Alexa (and Jordanna and Caleb) some new clothes from Lands End, and they arrived while she was here babysitting today. I don't think she expected Alexa to wear the green shirt, blue jacket, and purple skirt at the same time and over her clothes nonetheless. Oh, and she's wearing her princess heels, too.
Caleb loves his new (to him) school desk that we got from another homeschooling family today. I just need to get him a chair so that he doesn't have to sit on the stool. And he also loves playing with his new (to him, they were mine when I was little) discovery tiles.

Still Stuck
I've heard reports of people finally getting out and about today. But not me. Our road is still HORRIBLE. In fact, our mailman had to park and deliver my mail on foot. He said our road was the worst spot on his whole route.
Here's what it looks like right now. It looks like snow, but it's really pretty much just ice. You can see on the bottom corner the clear driveway since Dave shoveled it.
Looking the other direction
If you look all the way across the cul-de-sac, you can see the clear, dry road on the other side.
And here's our yard.
Next time we get 6 inches of snow (like 15 years from now or something), I'm making Dave shovel a path through the cul-de-sac when he shovels our driveway.

Snow Day #3
I'm tired of the snow. I'm tired of pictures of snow. I'm tired of being trapped in my house due to the snow. And we'll be stuck home again tomorrow. Anyway, here's some of what we did indoors today.
Played some Candy Land and other games.
Molly got me this book for Christmas. It has fairy tales to read and then recipes that go with the stories.
We read the story "The Stolen Bread Smells," and then we made Sweet-Smelling Cinnamon Bread.
And then we ate it.
We also read some books. And smiled and looked cute.

Snow Fun
Last night after dinner, the kids (who perked back up from being sick WAY faster than I did) helped me make snow ice cream. Here they are waiting for me to get the stuff.
Bowl full of snow
Measuring (No, I hadn't showered, and yes, I am wearing jammie pants. In fact, today is the first time I've put on something other than jammies since Friday around lunchtime.)
Jordanna played on the floor while we mixed up the ice cream.
Eating the yummy ice cream
Today the snow was easier to pack, so Dave and the kids (mostly Alexa) built a snow man.
And the kids sledded on trash can lids. And wiped out a few times.
My cute little snow bunny. She LOVED being outside.
Alexa "helped" Dave shovel the driveway.
Dave did most of the work, though.
Once the driveway was shoveled, we made a quick run to the grocery store. Then we came home and ate homemade bread bowls with creamy chicken and rice soup for dinner. Yum!
And Dave has tomorrow off of school again. Hooray!
