Not Exactly the Week I Had Planned

So, my plans for this week involved schooling my kids, tutoring, babysitting, and having friends over while Dave and Caleb went caving. Apparently, though, God's plans for this week included very little school, 3 snow days for Dave, 4 sick children, and an allergic reaction and a trip to urgent care for me. All in all it's been a good week hanging out as a family, playing in the snow, sleeping lots, and watching movies. Maybe next week will be "normal" if there is such a thing. I'll be back with pictures hopefully tomorrow. But for now back to my Friday night laundry folding.

Playdate fun

The girls had two friends over for a playdate right at the end of break before we had to get back into the school routine.  I had a sugar cookie mix and some writing icing, and they all had a great time decorating cookies for their snack.

My friend Megan keeps my kids once I week while I teach, and now I'm going to be keeping hers (the two sweet boys below plus their older brother) once a week while she teaches piano.

Just Dance

Alexa got Just Dance Disney for Christmas, and the kids have had a good time playing it.  Even Jordanna plays although she doesn't realize she's supposed to have a remote with working batteries.

Movie Night

Dave took Caleb to see the Hobbit the other night along with some men from church.  So Megan and the boys came over for our own movie night.  They lasted for awhile, but by the end, all the big kids had run off to play, and Megan and I finished watching the movie by ourselves.

Rainbow Looming

We manged to end up with two rainbow looms for Christmas, and Caleb and Alexa have spent a lot of time making bracelets.  Alexa is often wearing 4-5 bracelets at a time.  And anything that keeps them quiet and busy is a winner in my book. 

Happy New Year

We had some friends over for a New Year's Eve spend-the-night-party, but the only picture I managed to take was this one of the kids performing Christmas songs for us.  We ate, watched Happy New Year, Charlie Brown, put the kids to bed, ate some more, and played a game.

After our friends left this morning, we just stayed home for the day.  The kids, Alexa and Jordanna especially, played pretty well and kept themselves busy.  Unfortunately, this is the mess than ensued.
