Redeeming Myself with 79% Savings at Publix

After yesterday's sad shopping trip to Kroger, I had a MUCH better trip to Publix today. The cashier was even impressed with my savings. I spent $19.10 and saved $70.83. I used a $5/$25 Rite Aid coupon on my purchase.

Here's what I got -
6 bags Mahatma rice - $.11 overage each
1.36 lb grapes - $2.30 (These would have been cheaper at Kroger, but their grapes did not look very good yesterday.)
1 large carton strawberries - $2.29
2 packages Dixie napkins - $.50 each
1 loaf Marble Rye bread - $2.89
1 package King's Hawaiian rolls - $.01 overage
1 package Eat Smart broccoli - $.67
12 assorted packages Bird's Eye vegetables - $.31 - $.56 each
1 rolls packing tape - $1.79
3 CFL light bulbs - $.69 each
1 jar light Helmann's mayo - $1.50
1 jar regular Helmann's mayo - $1.90
2 boxes Ritz crackers - $.75 each
2 packages Wrigley's gum - free
3 packages Mentos gum - $.01 overage each
1 box Chex Mix bars - $1.00
1 bottle Cranapple juice - $.85

There will be no official grocery totals post for this weekend because we are leaving tomorrow to go to the mountains with Molly and Nick and without the kids. I still have TONS of packing to do. But here's a quick overview.

Drug store -
I went to CVS once and spent around $2 and saved something and got back some ECBs.

Grocery Store -
I spent $53.94 and saved $75.41 or 57%.

True Confession

I went to the grocery store this afternoon (Molly took me), and I saved 8% and only used one coupon. Lest you think I should lose my title as the Queen of Couponing, though, I have a better trip to Publix planned tomorrow, and I should still stay around $85 total for groceries for the whole week.

Now Blogging Live...

...from my very own bed. It took FOREVER for me to get discharged from the hospital today, but we finally made it home today shortly before 5:00. The good news is that all the tests came back fine. The bad news is that all the tests came back fine; therefore, we don't know what caused the fainting episode. I do have one more test next week. Please pray for wisdom for Dave and I as we decide when/if I should be driving again and as we deal with the car insurance. Please pray for God's abundant provision for our family as we learn whether the van can be repaired or will need to be replaced. And continue to praise God with us for His protection of me and the children in the accident.

Blogging Live From...

...the hospital. This morning I was headed to meet Molly at the mall. I made one stop at Rite Aid and then got back in the car. Just a bit down the road, I started to feel faint. I thought that I should pull over, and I began to pray. Next thing I knew, I was waking up and there was a couple standing by my car talking to my children. The lady asked me if I was okay and then encouraged me to tell my children we were okay. I realized that I must have passed out and had an accident. I called Dave, and he left school immediately. As I later pieced the whole story together, I flew through an intersection (fortunately the light was green at the time), smashed a yield sign, went through 2 poles without hitting them and then hit the brick sign in front of a Waffle House. The kids were absolutely fine (Side note, but that is why I am so obsessive about car seats. The car seats were very nice ones, installed properly, and the harnesses were tightened properly, and my children escaped completely unscathed). I have just a few bumps and bruises, but we decided it would be prudent for me to go to the emergency room to be checked for what might have caused the fainting. My dad soon arrived to take Caleb and Alexa home, and Dave drove me to the hospital. The emergency room doctor almost immediately told me that I would be admitted so that they could monitor my heart for 24 hours. So here I sit hooked up to my monitors and blogging and waiting for 18 Kids and Counting to come on TV at 9:00.

Despite the scary day I have had, I have several things to praise God for today -
- that my children and I are safe and not injured
-that I hit a sign not another car or a person
-that I was able to tell several people today that I was praying when the accident happened and that God protected me
-for the sweet couple who witnessed the accident and helped keep me and my children calm
-for my husband, parents, best friend, and church family who have cared for me and the kids today
-for modern medicine

I'll update tomorrow once I get some word about what might have caused the fainting. So far all the tests I've had have come back fine. I should be going home sometime tomorrow.
