June 2010 Books Read
Well, I read something like 12 magazines when we were at the beach earlier this month. I love to read magazines at the beach because they don't require a lot of concentration and I don't have to worry about them getting wet. However, I did read several books in June as well.
In Defense of Food: An Eater’s Manifesto by Michael Polla - I read this at the beginning of the month and honestly don't remember much about it. It must not have been too exciting.
Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society by Mary Ann Shaffer - This novel was written completely in the form of letters, which were exchanged in the time period surrounding WWII.
The Girls by Lori Lansens - This novel reads like an autobiography of conjoined twins. They take turns telling their story.
Saving CeeCee Honeycutt by Beth Hoffman - Good story!
Savannah from Savannah by Denise Hildreth - Quick, easy read. Not amazing, high quality literature by any means, but it was a good read.
Multiple Choice by Claire Cook - A cute story of a mom who goes back to school at the same time her daughter starts college.

From My Kitchen
Alexa's birthday cake. Once again, cake decorating is NOT my thing, but Alexa loved it.
Baby back ribs for Dave. They were yummy, and our Korean student, Paul, even said they were better than the ribs at Outback. But, I think I still need to find a happy medium because they were a bit TOO tender and fell completely off the bone.

School and Stuff
We did have school this week, but I didn't take many pictures of it. So I added some other random pictures as well.
Our author this week was Richard Scarry. I had him scheduled for later this summer, but I bumped him up since a little birdie told me that Alexa is getting a Richard Scarry board game for her birthday. The kids have LOVED Scarry's Busytown this week. I've read them several books and so has Dave. We did some printable pages such as mazes, counting pages, and coloring sheets. Caleb also played on the Busytown website. We're taking the next 2 weeks off of school due to the kids' birthday party and our next trip to the beach.

Playing with the new hockey sticks that I got on clearance at Kroger for $1.00.
