I'm so glad that I didn't decide to do early voting. There were tales on the news and from people that I know of waiting in line for 2-3 hours. I left the house around 1:50 (Dave is home, and the kids are napping/having quiet time). I walked right in to the polling station and climbed under all the tape since there were no lines (the lady told me I could). I filled out my information, showed my ID, voted, and was home in less than 20 minutes. For those of you in blog land who are wondering why Dave didn't vote, he is a Canadian citizen. I asked him if he wanted to be cool like me and have a cute sticker, but he didn't seem to care. The kids, however, will probably pilfer my sticker as soon as they see it.

I Voted

Some Kid Funnies
1) Caleb had on navy socks today. When he got into the bathtub, his sock lint was floating around the bathtub. He was seriously traumatized by this. I'm not sure if he thought it was bugs or what, but he was crying and throwing a pretty good fit. When he noticed it again at the end of his bath and got upset again, Dave caught some in a cup to show him and told him it was silly. So then Caleb kept saying that sillies were in the bathtub.
2) Molly posted today about how her cats make housework difficult. Alexa "helped" me with the laundry today. She pulled each piece out of the laundry and handed it to me saying, "Here." Then, while I was in our room putting away laundry, she was taking my socks and spreading them on the master closet floor. Then she took Dave's socks and put them in my sock drawer. So helpful!
3) I was helping Caleb tell Dave about his day. I asked him what we bought at CVS today, and he answered "Elmo diapers." Then I asked him what we bought for Daddy. He said something about buying Daddy drinks (Cokes. I'm not sure why he thinks they are Daddy drinks, but that is what he said as soon as we put them in the cart). He paused for a minute and then said very sincerely, "Happy Birthday, Daddy." He is SO into birthdays these days and has apparently concluded that anytime someone gets a present they must be having a birthday. Too cute!

Adventurous Errands
Since Alexa has dropped her morning nap, I can get out earlier in the morning and get my errands done. We had an interesting trip this morning.
First, we went to CVS, where I spent $3.06 for 2 packs of Pampers, 3 12 packs of Coke, 1 12 pack of Sprite, 2 tubes of Crest toothpaste, and 10 packs of Ice Breakers gum (Mom, I have more coupons for the gum;it turns out to be free). Here's where the excitement began, though. While I was checking out with my millions of coupons and ECBs ( I think I actually used 16), Alexa was sitting in the cart, and Caleb was standing near me. The cashier rang up the Cokes and I balanced them back in the cart. I turned back to the cash register, only to hear a giant crash. The whole cart had fallen over sideways; I'm guessing from the weight of the Cokes. Fortunately, Alexa was buckled in and far enough away from anything that she didn't hit her head. She was screaming, though, because she was understandably scared. The male cashier came around and helped me pick up the cart. I was just going to unbuckle her and get her out because I didn't think I could pick it up, but he acted pretty quickly. After determining that she was okay, he finished scanning my millions of coupons, and I paid my $3.06, a savings of 96%, and headed to the car.
Next stop was the library. We had some things to return, and Caleb is allowed to pick out one movie to check out. Well, he picked out a second copy of a Cowgirl Dora that we already had checked out from the library and had at home. I went over to the computers to check my account and confirm that we already had the movie, and then I made him put it back. Well, apparently I win the horrible Mommy award because he had a complete meltdown in the library since he wanted that movie. Fortunately for him, he got it together before I made him leave with no movie and was able to pick out something else, which he is now watching.
Next we returned a movie at Blockbuster, which was completely uneventful.
Finally, we went to Publix. I had to take both kids to the bathroom with me. I'm sure you can't believe that I am blogging about going to the bathroom, but if you've ever taken two kids into a public restroom, you know how much fun it can be. Caleb was giving a running commentary such as, "There's the potty. Mommy go potty," and other fun things. Alexa was squatting trying to look under the next stall, which, fortunately, was empty. I told Alexa to get off the floor because it was dirty, so Caleb puts his hand on the floor to point to it to tell Alexa that it is dirty. Umm yeah, so don't touch it if you know it is dirty. Anyway, we survived the bathroom trip and did our shopping. I spent $8.22 on a 1/2 gallon of orange juice, a dozen eggs, three packs of Kraft American cheese, a birthday card for Molly, Publix oatmeal, 2 bottles of Worcestershire sauce, and 4 more bags of Green Giant Steamers. I saved $19.32 0r 70%.

Shoe Woes
Out of the million pairs of black shoes that I own, I picked out a pair of shoes for church today that Molly had given me because they didn't fit her well. I tried them on for a second to see how they looked with my outfit, and then I put my slippers back on. I threw the shoes on again right as we headed out the door. After wearing them for a little while this morning while helping set up for church, I realized that while the left one felt fine, the right one was really hurting. So I threw them off while I continued to help set up.
Later on the way over to the other building for lunch after church, I was telling Molly that they were hurting and asking her if they had bothered her. I finally got the bright idea to check and see if they were the same size. Sure enough, the left one was a 9.5W, and the right one was a 9. I'm not sure how Molly managed to not notice that when she bought them or wore them or gave them to me, or how I managed to not notice when I got them from her or put them away in my closet or tried them on. Anyway, I put on the black ballet bedroom slippers that I had in my car and wore them to church lunch, and Molly graciously let me borrow a correctly sized pair of shoes to wear to church tonight. When we got home, I unceremoniously dumped the non-matching pair in the trash.

Happy Birthday, Esther!
After partying last night, Caleb had some more partying to do today at a belated 4th birthday party for his friend, Esther. Daddy took Caleb to the party, while Alexa and Mommy stayed home for nap time. The party was at Esther's grandmother's house, and she has 2 horses. We have been invited to ride them once before while I was pregnant with Alexa, and Caleb was really not too sure about the horses then. Today, though, he saw the other kids riding, so he did it, too. He also got to feed the horses and bounce in the bouncy house. And eat some birthday cake, of course. He had lots of fun and has been saying, "Happy Birthday, Esther," for the rest of the evening. Here are some pictures and a video.
